Jacques Mete' Descendants

In recent correspondence, Ellen Metty Rose inquired about Jacques marriages. Jacques' first spouse was Marie Francoise Lalouette LeBeau, sometimes referred to as Frances Bau. She was born and baptized on 4 Oct 1703 at Boucherville, the daughter of Rene Lalouette LeBeau and Marie Madeliene Guertin. She first married on 21 March 1726 to Joseph Cornet at Boucherville, Province of Quebec Canada. This marriage ended with the death of Joseph who was buried at Boucherville on 23 May 1727. Prior to this marriage Marie LeBeau gave birth to a daugther on 19 December 1725 at Boucherville. I suspect that there is a high probability that Joseph was the father of this child but I have not found proof of that fact. The child was named Marguerite LeBeau and was baptized on the day of birth. Following the marriage of Joseph and Marie, another daughter was born on 12 Jan 1727. In the records of the University of Montreal, our ancestor is listed as being one of the Pioneers of Canada. The listing is as follows: Jacques Mete Ladouceur Forcier, immigrant. Birth: around 1692 at St-Pierre, Le Poire-sur-la-Roche, ev. Lucon, Poitour (auj. Le Poire-sur-Vie. ar. La Roche-sur-yon, Vendee). His parents are listed as Jacques Mete and Jacquette Durandet.

Second baron de Longueuil, b. at Longueuil, 18 Oct., 1687: d. on 17 Jan., 1755. He entered the army quite young, and, after having served in France, was appointed major of Montreal(1733), and received the cross of St. Louis (1734). As Governor of Montreal(1749) he administered the colony after Jonquière's death. He saved from suppression the General Hospital of Venerable Madame d'Youville, maliciously threatened with destruction. He married Catherine Charlotte de Gray in 1720. The Baron served in the garrison of New France for many years as part of the Montreal general Staff. In 1739-1740 he commanded the Canadian expedition which fought the Chickasaws in Louisiana. It is from the Ste Famille Catholic Church in Boucherville, Canada numbered 105140. According to the record, Jacuqes' occupation was that of a "soldat de la compagne de M. Le Baron de Longueuil." His residence is listed as being Longueuil and he is shown as originally coming from the "Paroisse de St.-Jean-Du-Poire, Diocese de Lucon." His parents are listed as Jacques Mete' and Jacquette Durandet. The bride is named as Francoise LeBeau, daughter of Rene LeBeau and Madeleine Guertin, a widow. Another listing of interest is Joseph Coronet, deceased, former husband of the bride. Other family members listed are Jacques LeBeau, Rene LeBeau and Ignace LeBeau, all brothers of the bride. Although the record lists her age as being 42, other records list her birth as 4 October 1703 at Boucherville, so it is more probable that she was only 38 years of age at time of death. She died in the eleventh year of their marriage.
