Leander's role in the establishment of Mendon, MI

For those of you familiar with Mendon, the sketches will aid you in visualizing the part Leander played in establishing the present town site. Unfortunately these are 8 1/2 by 11 pages and are not very legible, so if anyone wants copies of them, please contact me. Metty's Addition (first) was bounded by Main, Lake, State and Nottawa Streets. The Second addition was bounded by Main, Nottawa, Kline and the river.
The following information appears in the History of St. Joseph County, MI 1877, published L. H. Everts & Co, Philadelphia, PA.
p. 220 "... the next comer (to territory of Mendon Township) was Leander Metha, who came in from Monroe in 1835, and settled on the north side of the river on the present site of the village of Mendon...
p. 221 "The first hewed log house was built by Leander Metha in 1834, near where Wakeman House now stands."
p. 223 "The village of Mendon was first surveyed and platted in 1845, on the 22nd day of November, by Leander Metha, the first settler on its territory. The original plat was laid on the east half of section 27, township 5, range 10 ...."
"The first settler, as before stated, was Leander Metha who built the first house on the present plat in 1834, the same being a rough cabin of logs and which was subsequently replaced by a hewed log cabin of more comfortable dimensions. The old one being subsequently used for school purpose."
p.224 "The Catholic Church Society was organized in 1834-38 by Father Charles Boss. The Moutan family, Mr. Marantette and family, Mr. Metta (sic) and family ... and the french residents generally, forming the nucleus of the society afterwards known... as St. Martin's Church."
