Mike Metty Family

-Michael R. Metty (b. 9/22/1962-Detroit, Mi.) My portion of the family tree is as follows: My family moved from Taylor, Michigan to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1968, after my father retired from the Taylor fire department for health reasons. We moved to Gulfport, Florida in 1973,where I graduated from Boca Ciega High School. I enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 3 September 1980, and following Recruit training, was stationed on the USS Pensacola (LSD-38) at Little Creek, Va. I married Mary Elizabeth Qualls on 12 December 1980, and had our first child on 29 December 1981 (Michael R. Metty, II). Our second child was born on 29 December 1983 (Matthew R. Metty). After moving around the country/world to various duty stations, we finally settled in Kingsland, Georgia in June of 1995. I retired from the Navy on 31 January 2001, after over 20 years. After retiring from the Navy, I joined the Merchant Marines, and continued sailing around the world for the next 5 years. I am now employed with the Civil Service, at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base, St. Marys, Ga., and now have 2 Grandchildren, Matthew R. Metty, II (b. 29 July 2003) and Autumn M. Metty (b. 8 July 2003)

Michael died on the 28th of January 2013 and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Marys, Camden County, Georgia.
