On 4 March 2008 I posted the following information concerning Richard Metty: Richard married a second time to Victoria Thibault, widow of Peter Robidau. Richard and Victoria were married on 30 Oct 1849 at Monroe. Victoria was born on 31 Aug 1814 at Detroit daughter of Gabriel and Jane Cardinal Thibault and died 22 Oct 1855 at Monroe. Her headstone in St Mary's Cem, Monroe, MI inscribed Victoire 2,d wife R Matty D Oct 22, 1855 aged 42. One child was born to this union: Julia (Judith) born sometime in 1850. Since you posed the question as to whether or not there was a third marriage I have been checking my files to determine where I might have obtained this information. Presently I am at a loss as to identify the source of my information. However, I did go on the Family Search site and found that someone else had entered the marraige of Richard Metty and Victoria Thibeaut as occurring on 3 October 1849 at Monroe, MI. Pearl was born on December 20, 1920 in Ogema Minnesota to William Morris and Luella (Comstock) Steen. She was raised in St. Joseph County, MI and attended a rural country school. Pearl married Gordon Eugene Metty on July 8, 1937 in Centerville, MI and became a homemaker, housewife and mother. She later gained employment as a seamstress in a garment factory making Dr. Denton Pajamas in Centerville, MI and also at a plastic factory. After Gordon’s death on July 3, 1969 Pearl met Harold L. Milhahn and they were married on February 14, 1970 in Centerville, MI. Pearl and Harold lived in Three Rivers, MI. Harold passed away on November 18, 1991. Pearl moved to Plattsmouth in November of 2002 to be near her daughter Donna and resided at Woodbridge Assisted Living ...

I have information from Geneology of the French Families of the Detroit River Region 1701-1936, Vol. II of Richard Metty's marriage to Victoria Bissonet; I have her death as occuring prior to 1856 and that his 2nd marriage was to Rachel Knaggs. Other research states Victoire Thibeaut, married Richard on 3 Oct. 1849 and died in 1855. His death notices state he was an upstanding citizen, so I don't think polygamy was happening (although who knows, stranger things have happened). So, does anyone know when Victoria Bissonet died, who Victoria Thibeaut was, and was Rachel Knaggs, then, Richard's 2nd or third wife? Or is this a mystery worth exploring??

In recent correspondence, Ellen Metty Rose inquired about Jacques marriages. Jacques' first spouse was Marie Francoise Lalouette LeBeau, sometimes referred to as Frances Bau. She was born and baptized on 4 Oct 1703 at Boucherville, the daughter of Rene Lalouette LeBeau and Marie Madeliene Guertin. She first married on 21 March 1726 to Joseph Cornet at Boucherville, Province of Quebec Canada. This marriage ended with the death of Joseph who was buried at Boucherville on 23 May 1727. Prior to this marriage Marie LeBeau gave birth to a daugther on 19 December 1725 at Boucherville. I suspect that there is a high probability that Joseph was the father of this child but I have not found proof of that fact. The child was named Marguerite LeBeau and was baptized on the day of birth. Following the marriage of Joseph and Marie, another daughter was born on 12 Jan 1727. It has been several years since I have posted anything. My lineage to Felix is already documented so here is a bit of my family: My father, Eldred Metty, b. 04 January 1915; d. 13 September 1983 (Dositheus, Oliver, Richard, Felix, Joseph, Jaques, Jaques), m. Ellen Edna Krieg (b. 20 June 1921, d. 09 December 2000), on 12 October 1940 in a Catholic church rectory. Since my father was Catholic and mother Lutheran, their marriage was frowned upon at this time. My father took counsel from a Capuchin monk, Father Solanus Casey (now being researched for sainthood). Fr. Casey advised that if my father and mother truly loved one another they should go on with the ceremony. My maternal grandparents refused to attend and it was several years before this rift was healed.
