Avoca Miss is Bride of Currie Man on July 7
Miss Rita O'Connell and Clair Metty married in Pretty Church Ceremony
A simple but beautiful wedding was solemnized at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Avoca on Tuesday, July 7th, When Miss Rita O'Connell, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John O'Connell, of Avoca, became the bride of Clair Metty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Metty of Currie. Promptly at nine o'clock the wedding party entered the church to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march played by Miss Mary Ellen Garrison of Slayton.
The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Genevieve O'Connell. The groom was attended by Emmet O'Connell, brother of the bride. The bride was attired in a white suit with a blouse of egg shell lace and wore white accessories to match. Her flowers were a corsage of pink and white roses. The bridesmaid wore a blue suit with the white accessories and a corsage of white sweet peas.
Immediately after the ceremony a three course wedding breakfast was served to the immediate relatives and friends at the home of the bride's parents. The six waitresses were cousins and close friends of the bride. In the evening, Mr. and Mrs. Metty entertained their friends at a wedding dance in the Avoca Hall.
