I have information from Geneology of the French Families of the Detroit River Region 1701-1936, Vol. II of Richard Metty's marriage to Victoria Bissonet; I have her death as occuring prior to 1856 and that his 2nd marriage was to Rachel Knaggs. Other research states Victoire Thibeaut, married Richard on 3 Oct. 1849 and died in 1855. His death notices state he was an upstanding citizen, so I don't think polygamy was happening (although who knows, stranger things have happened). So, does anyone know when Victoria Bissonet died, who Victoria Thibeaut was, and was Rachel Knaggs, then, Richard's 2nd or third wife? Or is this a mystery worth exploring??

Earl Metty served aboard the USS WAKIVA II

Several years ago, I contacted the U. S. Naval Academy and here is a summary of the history of the USS WAKIVA II. USS WAKIVA II (Yacht: t. 853 (gross); l. 239'6"; b. 30'6"; dr. 15'0" (mean); s. 15 k.; a 4 3", 2 .30-cal. mg) WAKIVA II - a steel hulled steam yacht built at Leith, Scotland, by Ramage and Ferguson - was launched on 3 February 1907 for Lamon V. Harkness. The graceful yacht served the Harkness family - first for Lamon V. and then for his son Harry - and ranged from the North Sea to the Netherlands East Indies in the halcyon days before the first World War. After the United States entered this conflict on the side of the Allies the Navy acquired WAKIVA II on 20 July 1917 and commissioned her on 6 August at the Boston Navy Yard, Lt. Comdr. Thomas R.   I recently posted the marriage license of Arthur Metty and Bertha Wickman.   Now I will turn back the pages of history to 1875.   Arthur was born on 14 November of that year in Kankakee, Illinois.   The family was living on Washington Avenue between Court and Merchants Street.  In the 1880 census the family is shown living in Bourbonnais, Illinois.  By 1884, the family had removed to Lyon County Minnesota along with a number of other families from Kankakee County, Illinois. In June 1884, Arthur’s father purchased a quarter section of land in Murray Township, Murray County, Minnesota approximately one and one half miles southeast of the village of Currie, Minnesota.  The local newspaper states:"He is a member of a company now operating a livestock farm near Marshall."  Then on 12 November 1885 the news reports:  "Mr. F. H. Mette moved his family from near Marshall to Frank Barrows farm just west of this place last week."  Thus Arthur no...
